About Victoria
Victoria Shanks is the oldest of five siblings raised on the Bible, Bigfoot stories, and creek mud. She writes science fiction and fantasy adventures about faith and family—stories to remind her readers they are never alone. Her inspirations include her Appalachian heritage, Andrew Peterson’s Wingfeather Saga, the Old West, Orson Scott Card’s Ender Saga, and military thrillers.
As a graduate of The Author Conservatory, Victoria studied writing craft, business, and marketing, and her capstone project is featured in the anthology Voices of the Future: Stories of Adventure and Imagination. She’s also published short stories with Story Embers and Havok Publishing.
In her spare time she’s embarked on numerous adventures, including camp ministry in the Mojave Desert, shadowing doctors and nurses in emergency rooms across Kentucky, and volunteering with the No Greater Love Foundation. Usually, though, Victoria can be found taking long walks in the woods, brewing tea lattes, thrifting Louis L’Amour paperbacks, or muttering to her black cat Fish.
